I already added a Music forum (makes sense, yes? lol), but I think I am going to add one for Film as well. TV might be fun, except the writer's strike has left us with little to carry on about for the second half of the season... and to think the CEO's are already starting to write off the start of the 08/09 season. Ugh.
Anyway, I'll be happy to take suggestions for Boards you'd like to see here at The Chamber's site. I started small to see how well it would go, but I thought I would go ahead and ask for suggestions now!

Thought about that... but seriously... (as we discussed tonight at the bar) around here the music forum should eventually be a pretty well used spot all it's own

And I Xbox, Halo, and Guitar Hero

Ohhh... a GAMERS' forum. Haha. Why didn't I think of that? Oh yeah, because I could only contribute to conversations that involve old PS-1 games, Neverwinter Nights and Rollercoaster Tycoon Although, I'm pretty good with Masquerade, Rolemaster and LOTR. Wait... those require paper

Ok, so we definately need a gaming category or two. One for pc/console video games and one for table top/larp rpgs, but at the very least, a generic gaming category would be cool.
"Hi, my name is Janet and I am a gamer geek."
Yes, I will admit it, I have played all kinds of random console games, pc games, table top and larp rpgs, and collectible card games through out most of my life.
It was always amusing back in my younger years to show up at a game store with older brother. Everyone would be all like, "awww, isn't that nice, you let your little sister tag along." Until I pulled out MY magic cards and gave them a beating. ;D

Gaming forum is okay, however there are only 25 members thus far so larger, broader categories makes more sense. Other wise you end up with 20, forums each with only a couple posts here and there, which is annoying if you are browsing and makes the forums look totally dead.
So I would start with *less* forums (like, less than there are now even) and if the board picks up a lot then you can start splitting them down.
Also, since you can do text underneath a forum name it's pretty easy to do
Media Music, Movies, Games, & Television

At the start of this thread I said, "I started small to see how well it would go, but I thought I would go ahead and ask for suggestions now!" - lol - and I think I pretty much started with a standard break down. The only forum I added on a whim was Film and that's because *I* wanted to talk about movies - ROFL - I still feel the music forum will ultimately hold it's own. I don't intend to add any more for awhile, but feedback is good for future changes... So I would start with *less* forums (like, less than there are now even) and if the board picks up a lot then you can start splitting them down. More work!!! ... just what I need

Don't worry, Janet! I'm a huge gamer, too. I prefer computer gamin', but I've always been an Xbox girl at heart ;D

Amazingly, I've never played an xbox. Like every Nintendo system, sega, the playstations, you name it, but never an xbox. Who knows why. Maybe it's the freakin controller. Even the playstation controllers are too big for my tiny little hands to use for prolonged periods of time. I had to go get one that's scaled down 1/3 for me to use regularly. My guy friends think my little controller is hysterical. lol.

I found game controllers to get more and more annoying over recent years... oddly shaped and seemingly less freedom to hold it the way I wanted. Hah! I just assumed I was getting old

I dont' think it's just you, I hate freaking game controllers. I think it's a bad thing when they can design a hand held gaming system (PSP, the nintendo gameboy series, etc) that is SMALLER than a lot of the controllers for console game systems. ROFL

My old Pentium II is hooked up to my television. It has emulators for: Arcade games Atari 2600 Colecovision Intelivision NES Gameboy Gameboy Advance Sega Master System Sega Genesis Super Nintendo TurboGrafx-16 Neo Geo and, uhm, I'm sure a few others I'm forgetting. I even have four controllers, so in theory I could play some of the old school arcade stuff like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4-player. If only I had four friends! Did I mention that I put the old hunk-o-junk PC in a pretty new case with a clear side and cold cathode lighting? It's freaking hilarious. Also, it was a SLOT processor, not a socket. The processor literally plugs into the board like a video game cartridge or something! I need to go back and play some SMB3 or something. And Blazing Lazers. And Black Tiger. *disappears*

does the digression of this thread thus far indicate the need for a generic gaming category yet or should we keep it going? lol
